Man arrested for Hannibal taxi-cab armed robbery

HANNIBAL (WGEM) — A 21-year-old man was taken into custody after reports of an armed robbery late Monday night, according to Hannibal Police Department.

Police said they received reports of a taxi cab driver being robbed in the area of South Griffith St. and Hope St. at 9:54 p.m.

Officers said they apprehended Donovan Cooper of Hannibal about two hours later and he was found with a handgun.

No injuries were reported in the incident, but police said he did get away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Cooper was placed on a 24-hour hold at the Marion County Jail pending review of formal charges. The Hannibal Police Department was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Police said Cooper was arrested for first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Hannibal Police reported Tuesday afternoon that a warrant was issued by the Circuit Court of Marion County charging Cooper with First Degree Robbery and Armed Criminal Action.  Cooper’s bond was set at $100,000.00.  Cooper remains in the Marion County Jail.
