Ameren Missouri to waive late payment, reconnection fees during COVID-19 pandemic

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (WGEM) — The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by Ameren Missouri that will allow them to waive the collection of fees related to late payments and reconnections.

Missouri Public Service Commission said the move will help natural gas customers deal with the financial hardships felt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its filing, Ameren Missouri stated it was seeking the variances from its tariffs related to the collection of reconnection and late payment fees to ease some of the financial burdens on its customers that reductions in hours worked, job and shift losses, sick leave and other impacts of the COVID-19 emergency may cause.

Ameren Missouri said the variances will remain in effect until it becomes evident that the COVID-19 outbreak is waning.

Ameren Missouri stated it will provide at least 15-days’ notice to affected customers before these fees are reinstated.

Ameren Missouri provides natural gas service to approximately 131,500 customers in Missouri.
