Flood gates to be installed in Hannibal

According to a release sent by Marion County Emergency Management Director John Hark, the City of Hannibal will be setting flood gates on Hill and Center Streets Friday at 2 pm.

Hark states in the release this is being done as a precaution as the Mississippi River is foretasted to continue to rise to a level of 20.7 feet.

"As far as cost it's less expensive for me to do it [Friday] during a work day than to do it on a weekend, however, if things go complete crazy over the weekend and we have to set the others then we will set them too," said Hark.

Hark also pointed out that level could rapidly change with the storms in the forecast going into the weekend.
