If you're a Hannibal parent who's a little puzzled as to why sidewalk chalk came home with school lunches Thursday, here's the scoop.
Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce officials said multiple downtown businesses came together to buy around 6,000 sticks of sidewalk chalk to send to kids as part of their Hannibal proud campaign.
Their goal give kids something fun and constructive they can do while dealing with the COVID-19 situation.
"Along with the sidewalk chalk [we sent] some guided activities that they can do, hopefully they'll be able to create some sort of uplifting, encouraging, sidewalk chalk art. We're asking them to share it on the Hannibal proud Facebook page," said Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director McKenzie Disselhorst.
Chamber of commerce officials said they have prizes to be awarded after people vote on different pieces online.
