McDonough County Health Department reports COVID-19 outbreak at second nursing home

MACOMB (WGEM) — The McDonough County Health Department (MCHD) has reported another outbreak of COVID-19 at a Macomb nursing home.

Thursday, MCHD officials reported an outbreak at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

MCHD stated there was one positive tested case at Heartland Health Care, however, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) defines an outbreak at a Long-term Care facility as one or more positive case(s) along with others that are ill with symptoms.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocols have been implemented. Public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in contact with the residents in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission. Due to Federal privacy restrictions, the release of any additional information on these cases is prohibited.

On Tuesday MCHD officials reported a COVID-19 outbreak at The Lamoine Assisted Living and Memory Care facility also in Macomb.

MCHD officials reported a total of four additional COVID-19 positive cases in the county on Thursday.

The new cases include the following:

  • Two females in their 20s
  • One male in his 20s
  • One female in her 70s

MCHD officials said this brings the total number of McDonough County residents testing positive for COVID-19 to 18.
