HANNIBAL JAYCEES: Tom Sawyer days will happen, but will look different

HANNIBAL (WGEM) — The Hannibal Jaycees announced on Thursday that the National Tom Sawyer Days (NTSD) would happen this year.

However, Jaycees officials stated due to the current situation with COVID-19, the Jaycees are proceeding with NTSD, but it will look very different than previous years.

These decisions were not made lightly, Jaycees officials stated. The 4th of July celebration encompasses a committee of volunteers that have been working hard planning since November of last year.

The Hannibal Jaycees are working to evaluate each event and the additional safety and sanitation measures necessary to proceed with this year’s National Tom Sawyer Days.

The Jaycees have remained in contact with government officials, the local health department and have followed the Governor’s frequent updates very closely to ensure we adhere to the guidelines recommended.

Each event will require a unique plan and will be evaluated each time one phase is updated.

The Jaycees stated it will keep everyone updated via its Facebook page.
