Report of shots fired in northwest Quincy

QUINCY (WGEM) — The Quincy Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Chestnut Thursday morning around 10:30 a.m.

When officers arrived to the area, QPD says "a potential suspect matching the initial description by the complainant was located at 5th and Chestnut."

Officers tried to make contact and the subject fled the scene on foot and was suspected to run into a vacant residence south of Chestnut on 5th Street.

Officers surrounded the house, but later they determined the subject wasn't in the residence.

QPD says the situation remains under investigation and no damage or injuries have been reported.

They also say no suspect information is available at this time.

Police added that they do not believe there is a public safety threat.
