McDonough County announces two COVID-19 related deaths

The McDonough County Health Department announced on Saturday the deaths of two McDonough County residents who tested positive for coronavirus disease earlier this month.

Health officials say the victims are a female in her 50s and a female in her 80s.

A death certificate that lists COVID-19 disease or SARS-CoV-2 as a cause of death, or a significant condition contributing to death, is counted as a COVID-19 death in accordance with the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Vital Records.

The McDonough County recovered case count stands at 42 of 88 positive COVID-19 cases.

Recovered is defined by CDC as resolution of fever without fever-reducing medications for 3 days (72 hours), improvement of respiratory symptoms, and at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
