Four-vehicle crash stops traffic on 36th Street


QUINCY (WGEM) — Traffic resumed around 1:30 p.m. Monday after a four-vehicle crash on 36th Street just south of the Broadway Street intersection.

The Quincy Police Department responded to a call just after 1 p.m. Monday of an crash on 36th Street in the northbound lanes.

QPD says witnesses near the scene claim the driver of a gray sedan was going in and out of consciousness while driving at a fast rate on North 36th Street before rear-ending another vehicle in traffic causing a chain reaction with two other vehicles.

Two drivers of vehicles involved in the accident were transported to Blessing Hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries.

QPD said based on the investigation of the accident and the driver's behavior, as well as witness statements, the at-fault driver, Aaron D. Ellison was arrested for Driving Under The Influence Of Drugs, as well as Failure To Reduce Speed To Avoid An Accident.

He was released on a Notice To Appear at Blessing Hospital pending a court appearance.

The injured driver that was not at fault was later released from Blessing Hospital.
