QUINCY, IL (WGEM) - Heavy rain didn't delay rebuilding the 1828 Fraser Cabin on Quinsippi Island.
On Monday, the contractors from Utah finished the roof and sealing the spaces in between logs on the outside of the cabin.
Friends of the Log Cabins President, John Gebhardt, said it's their turn to do their part in rebuilding the cabin.
"We need to put a porch on the front and on the one side the cabin that was there in the original," he said. "Then we're going to be responsible for doing the chinking (sealing spaces between logs) on the inside of the cabin. It was originally a stagecoach stop on the way to Ursa, but when it was moved to the village they made it the village school, so the village would have a school and we plan to do the same thing," he said.
Gebhardt is hoping the cabin will be ready for the public for Frontier Settlement Day in September.
