Quincy Medical Group is making some changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement by Chief Executive of Operations Carol Brockmiller states that approximately 30 employees have been terminated.

Brockmiller says in the statement that the COVID-19 pandemic adjustments have led to the job cuts.

"Today is a difficult day for QMG and our hearts are hurting as we’ve made the prudent business decision to terminate the employment of approximately 30 of our nearly 1100 employees. This decision came from what we’ve learned and experienced in the past three months while navigating COVID-19. Our team has adjusted to the pandemic and stepped up to do whatever was asked and needed and efficiencies were gained.  As a result of that there are duties that have been absorbed by others and in some cases, positions eliminated. QMG has been providing amazing healthcare for over 80 years, and we will be doing so 80 years from now, and beyond. Our strong culture and strategic resilience should not be underestimated and we are proud of running an effective business, even in healthcare, and even when those decisions are coupled with love for our co-workers."

Duties of those jobs that were cut will be absorbed by other positions.
