Quincy Police Department has been busy responding to concerns over fireworks Friday night.
Officers were dispatched to 12th and Jersey after a call came in of kids throwing fireworks at a house. No damage was reported, but police say they have talked with teens and adults about fireworks safety this weekend.
Officers said if they have to, they will hand out tickets.
"We're getting dispatched to fireworks all over the city," Officer Andrew Cox said. "Like I said, the're illegal. It can cause a nuisance to some people. So we respond, especially when we're getting calls about people misusing them, shooting them at houses or people or cars or something. We take that very seriously."
Anyone violating the state statute or city ordinance concerning fireworks is subject to citation and fine.
Fireworks that are legal in Illinois include snakes, smoke bombs, sparklers, party poppers, and snappers.
