QUINCY (WGEM) — There's an upcoming fundraiser to help extend the Bill Klingner trail that will honor a man who helped make it a reality.
The Terry Anastas Ultimate Ride is Saturday, honoring the legacy of Terry Anastas, who was a friends of the trails board member and Quincy Park District attorney.
Anastas died unexpectedly last month.
Board member Holly Cain says they decided to rename the event to remember Terry's contribution to the community.
"So its a day of reflection for Terry and his work in our community and I think it's a healing process for us that knew Terry. It's letting us get through this better by being busy and by putting this ride in his name. We'll have a ride of silence too that day with his bike on display." Cain said.
The ride will start Saturday, July 11th at 10 a.m.at The Dock in Quincy.
There's a 10 mile family-friendly bike ride and a 25 mile poker run with a celebration of life to follow.
You can pre-register on the park district's website, or register at the ride.
All the proceeds will go towards extending the Bill Klingner Trail.
