A Quincy man struggling with unemployment issues has new answers, after the Illinois Department of Employment office contacted him.
WGEM spoke with David Hurlbrink on Wednesday, when he said he had not received his unemployment check since April.
On Friday, Hurlbrink said by contacting local representatives and WGEM, someone from IDES got a hold of him.
He said his issue is now resolved and warns others of the mistake that he was making.
"File for unemployment and after that, it will tell you to certify every two weeks, so big difference between filing and certifying," Hurlbrink said. "After you file, you're done filing. Don't file again. That was where I goofed up. After that, you certify every two weeks. Mark it on your calendar."
Hurlbrink said he was told he's going to get paid in the next couple days.
He said the IDES representative said they have hired about 200 new employees in an effort to accommodate more phone calls.
