QUINCY, IL (WGEM) - While a picnic will not be apart of the Quincy Neighborhood Federation "Back to School" fair this year, officials said they are still going to help families.
Due to COVID concerns, they did not want large a large gathering for the fair. They are pre-bagging back to school items. Kids will also receive a summer activity that was donated by a church.
"We wanted to make sure the kids still had what they needed to go to school," said Brittney Welch, Quincy Neighborhood Federation Events Coordinator. "Even if we're going to online school, they're still going to need supplies to do their homework and stuff."
At the start of August, families can pick up at their location at 812 Payson Ave.
"So, they'll still get the bookbag, the school supplies, the shoes, socks, clothing, those kinds of stuff," said Welch. "We're going to bag those up and they'll be given a pickup time to come to our center."
She said deadline for applications has been extended through August. Forms are available online, at their centers, and at their portable pantry locations. Your child or children must be with you to pick up the items
