CARTHAGE, Ill. (WGEM) — Hickory Grove supportive living facility in Carthage, Illinois, will not be allowing visitors after one of it's employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
Officials at the Hancock County Health Department said they received official notice of the test on Saturday and will be doing contact tracing to determine all possible exposures.
They said the employee is a woman in her 30's to 40's and is currently recovering at home. All Hickory Grove staff and residents will be tested, as per Illinois Department of Public Health long-term facility guidance dictates.
Health department officials said the new positive test brings the county's total to 21 positive tests.
They said so far in Hancock County, 18 people have recovered while one person has died.
Health department officials said they're encouraging Hancock County residents to curb the spread of the virus by wearing a face covering when a six foot distance cannot be maintained, washing hands frequently, using hand sanitizer, staying home if they are are ill and sanitizing frequently touched surfaces.
