Local kids got a chance to get out in the sun and play a little baseball Saturday while keeping social distancing in mind.
Quincy Park District recreation program manager Tyler Laing said Saturday's sign-up home run derby was made possible by scheduling only a few kids at a time to come out and use their own equipment to hit some balls.
He said the goal is to give kids fun, and safe, summer activites.
"It's important that we're able to offer something for kids so they're able to get out and get outside and just enjoy the nature and take part in an activity they can actually do," Laing said.
Laing said you can go online to the Quincy parks' website to learn more about other events they have planned to sign up for them in advance.
