PALMYRA, Mo. (WGEM) — Marion County, Missouri, law enforcement issued a Public Safety Alert Tuesday afternoon warning people in the Palmyra area of an armed man.

Law enforcement stated a 27-year-old man wearing a tactical vest, a red bandanna, a white t-shirt, and plaid pants was armed with a handgun in the Palmyra area.

Law enforcement stated that Palmyra residents should lock their doors and not approach the suspect, but call 911 if you see him.

Law enforcement was performing car checks of HWY 61 coming in and out of Palmyra Tuesday afternoon as they searched for the suspect.

Marian County Sheriff Jimmy Shinn said deputies were also searching for the man in a wooded area near the Hardee's Restaurant.
