PITTSFIELD, Ill (WGEM) — Police are looking for a 27-year-old Quincy man who crashed a stolen car, then stole a second car to evade law enforcement.
Sheriff Greenwood said a deputy was called to a single-car crash on State Highway 106 near Barry Illinois, just after 7 a.m. on Sunday.
The driver of the vehicle, Levi Cain was transported from the crash scene to Illini Hospital via ambulance.
Sheriff Greenwood said during the investigation, it was learned that the crashed vehicle had been stolen from Quincy.
However, Cain was able to leave the hospital against medical advice and before law enforcement could arrive, Sheriff Greenwood said.
A search was then conducted near Illini Hospital where Cain had been seen on foot by citizens and law enforcement, however, Cain continued to evade deputies.
Sheriff Greenwood said Cain then stole a Pittsfield vehicle which was spotted by law enforcement driving north of Pittsfield on County Highway Three.
Sheriff Greenwood said a pursuit began, traveling through northern areas of Pike County into Adams County until it was terminated near Quincy.
Cain is presently wanted on a Pike County Arrest Warrant and an Adams County Arrest Warrant. More charges are expected following this incident.
