5 arrested following burglaries in Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) — Five people have been arrested in Adams County following multiple burglaries in rural Liberty, Illinois, according to the sheriff.

Sheriff Brian VonderHaar reported Tuesday that the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple burglaries in the area of rural Liberty that occurred between Saturday and Monday.

Sheriff VonderHaar stated suspects made forced entry to the residences and out buildings. Various power tools, multiple firearms, and a 4-wheeler were stolen from the properties.

The sheriff’s office served two search warrants and recovered the majority of the stolen property. 

The following arrests were made

  • Andrew Arnett, 51 of Quincy for Residential Burglary, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession of Meth.
  • Randall Van Velzer, 62 of Liberty for Residential Burglary, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession of Meth.
  • Cody Butterfield, 32 of Liberty for Residential Burglary, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession of Meth.
  • Timothy Crowl, 58 for Residential Burglary, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession of Meth.
  • Maegan Valdez, 30 of Liberty for a Utah DOC parole warrant.
