PITTSFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) — Many Pittsfield, Illinois, residents were left with downed trees and power outages following a storm with high winds Tuesday afternoon.

Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood confirmed that multiple trees were down in Pittsfield as of 3 p.m.

Greenwood also said high winds were causing many issues around the area and the department was busy responding to calls

A large tree on Fayette St. came down through the roof of a home.

Joshua Martin, Director of the Pike County Emergency Management Agency said his team was also busy responding to calls of damage.

Emergency officials reported many power outages including stoplights at several intersections.

The National Weather Service said they had received a report of 72 mph winds and large trees down.
