The Pike County Sheriff's Department arrested Kyle A. Pressnall, 34, of Pleasant Hill, Illinois for burglaries and thefts in multiple counties on July 27th.
According to a press release, on July 22nd the Pike County's Sheriff's Department executed a court-authorized search warrant at a home in the 400 block of Mill Street in Milton, Illinois. They say this was in reference to a burglary, theft, and methamphetamine investigation.
When officials got to the scene, they saw Pressnall leaving the residence. Then, a Pike County Deputy Sheriff attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Pressnall because he had an active arrest warrant. Pressnall failed to stop for the Deputy Sheriff and fled at speeds over 100 MPH.
Officials terminated the pursuit because of safety concerns around Panther Creek, Calhoun County, Illinois.
Both the Pike County Sheriff's Department and the Clahoun County Sheriff's Office worked together over the next several days to locate Pressnall. In addition to the arrest warrant, officials say he was a suspect in burglary and theft cases throughout Pike and Calhoun Counties.
Officials say Pressnall’s vehicle was recovered from a field between Crooked Creek Road and State Highway 96 in Calhoun County, Illinois. Then, Illinois State Police Air Operations, local citizens, and law enforcement officials searched for Pressnall over several days.
On July 27th, the Pike County Sheriff’s Department took Pressnall into custody at a home in Pearl, Illinois.
After an invesigation, officials found Pressnall committed several burglaries and thefts in the northern part of Calhoun County and the southern part of Pike County.
Officials say he unlawfully went into sheds and residences and stole a Kubota diesel RTV, chainsaws, tools, pole saws, fuel, a firearm, and food. Officials say they are attempting to recover the stolen property. They say most of the property had been pawned at pawn shops located in Jerseyville, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, Bowling Green, Missouri, Mexico, Missouri, and Jacksonville, Illinois.
The Pike and Calhoun Sheriff’s Offices are working closely with the State’s Attorney’s Office to have the appropriate charges filed.
Pressnall is currently lodged in the Pike County Jail on charges of:
· Pike County Warrant (Failure to Appear at Sentencing),
· Burglary (Pike County, Illinois)
· Theft Over $500.00 (Pike County, Illinois)
· Burglary (Calhoun County, Illinois)
· Theft Over $500.00 (Calhoun County, Illinois).
Additional charges are pending.
Officials say the incident remains under investigation by the Pike and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Departments.
