Multiple fire crews responded to a Tuesday night fire at the BASF plant on HWY JJ in Palmyra, Missouri.
Few details were given on the nature of the fire but a BASF official on scene says there were no chemicals in the building that is on fire.
The building was an unoccupied office building.
Hannibal fire officials say they received the call just before 10:30 p.m.
Palmyra fire officials say crews from Hannibal, Palmyra, Canton, and Quincy all responded to the scene. The fire occurred above the sprinkler system in the building and ladder trucks were needed to put it out.
Palmyra fire officials say they are not investigating the cause of the fire any further. They add BASF will handle that.
WGEM crews at the scene reported heavy smoke and a glow of flames could be seen inside of the building.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff were also on hand for assistance.
