Local kart racers who dreamed of competing in the 2020 Quincy Grand Prix will have to wait another year. It was announced earlier today that the QGP was being canceled this year at South Park. We'll check in with Grand Prix President Terry Traeder on just why this decision was reached.

The Quincy High football team closed out their Preseason Conditioning Program workouts this morning on the turf. The Blue Devils Varsity team hit the gridiron at 7:00 a.m., with the freshman and sophomores following soon after. With teh IHSA moving teh football season to the Spring due to COVID-19 safety and health precautions, their was a bit of disappointment in the air that the "Blue and White" won't get a chance to open their season as scheduled on August 28. With the team now relegated to working out in the team weight room, one QHS freshman took timeout to share his thoughts on the situation that the Blue Devils, and all area football, volleyball, and soccer teams located in Illinois, are facing as well.

In Southeast Iowa, the Central Lee football team continues preparing for the 2020 prep pigskin season in Donnellson. Wednesday afternoon, CLHS played host to the Chiefs of Keokuk during a 7-On-7 battle. Afterwards, both head coaches were pleased with their team's performance. The two teams will collide once more before the season starts on August 21. In the CLHS camp, (as you might expect) many of their players have high hopes for a successful campaign this season under first year head coach Chuck Banks. We'll check in with three Hawks who are ready to soar in 2020.
