An investigation is underway after the Missouri State Highway Patrol recovered a body in the Mississippi River Sunday night.

Troopers say they and other authorities were called to LaGrange, Missouri around 6 p.m.

Authorities recovered the body from the river around 7:30 p.m.

The identity of the person has not been revealed at this time.

Troopers say they believe the incident was a result of a "water accident" on the river.

"As of right now, we don't have any plans to further search," Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Joe Davidson said.

The Lewis County Coroner says an autopsy is pending.
