Move-in day at Western Illinois University is quickly approaching and this year, things will look a little different.

WIU Interim President Martin Abraham said all students and parents will be required to wear a mask while moving in.

He said they must sign up for time slots, to allow students and families to social distance.

He said they will provide COVID-19 testing. He said a mobile testing site will be on campus for a whole week, starting on August 17.

"It's for obviously anybody moving in, but families, community members, faculty staff anybody is welcome to get tested as long as the van, or truck is here," Abraham said. "They'll get the tests sent down to Springfield, they'll do the test no charge to them and we should have the results back in a couple of days."

Abraham said move in starts on August 19.

He said they plan to use a couple empty resident halls, if they were to need to isolate or quarantine students who test positive for COVID-19.
