The start of the high school football season in both Missouri and Iowa give local sports fans reasons to hope that their favorite prep teams will get an opportunity to play on the turf this season. With major Power 5 football conferences, such as the Big Ten and PAC 12, delaying the start of their football seasons until after January 1 of next year, one has to wonder if the high school seasons are now in jeopardy.
Despite that possibility, high school football practice continues in the "Show Me State," where both Highland and Palmyra, are counting down the day the pads come out and the hitting on the gridiron gets underway.
The coaches meanwhile are focused in on making sure their players are working hard to get in good condition, and are focused in on their assignments in the field. We'll check in Palmyra head coach Kevin Miles, Highland's Dave DeGarmo, and Keokuck's Josh Roberts to try and gain some insight on the Panthers, Cougars, and Chiefs as the start of the season draws closer day-by-day.
