CARTHAGE, Ill. (WGEM) — The Carthage Driver Services facility at 130 Buchanan St. will be closed until Tuesday, according to the Secretary of State.
Officials said the closure is due to a staffing issue that is not COVID-19 related. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the facility can not be staffed with workers from another facility as they would normally.
Secretary of State Jesse White stated as a reminder all expiration dates have been extended to November 1 for driver’s licenses/ID cards and license plate stickers.
White encourages people to conduct business online at cyberdriveillinois.com for services such as renewing license plate stickers, obtaining replacement driver’s licenses/ID cards as well as safe driver renewals.
For customers who decide to visit a facility, masks are required and people are advised to come prepared to wait outside in various weather conditions. Due to social distancing, the number of people allowed inside a facility at one time is limited.
Customers can visit the nearest facilities which include: Macomb at 466 Deer Rd. and Quincy at 2512 Locust St.
