(WGEM) — Friday a North Carolina community continues to mourn the death of a 5-year-old boy.
Thursday night a memorial and funeral service was held for Cannon Hinnant, who witnesses say was riding a bike outside his father's home when a neighbor walked up to him and shot him in the head.
That neighbor was arrested the next day and charged with murder. Those who remember Hinnant say he was someone who could brighten your day.
"His smile is huge. His personality is big you could not help to be changed when you met Cannon if a word wasn't said you can't help to be changed," said Dary High, Cannon's Youth Pastor. "Cannon was the kind of kid that was always polite kind of laid back but he was a beautiful little kid."
The police have not said anything about a motive at this time.
