Effects of the pandemic has made it difficult for some homeowners to keep up with mortgage payments.
Two Rivers Regional Council Executive Director, Jeremy Oshner says that's why the Illinois Development Authority created an emergency mortgage assistance program.
Oshner says those who demonstrate they were behind on payments after March and can prove pandemic hardship are eligible to apply for the program and could receive up to $15-thousand dollars.
"This funding is not a loan. It is a grant. So they will be awarded that money, they won't have to pay it back. It's just to help people through the pandemic. Again two rivers is able to help individuals locally. We're covering Adams, Brown, Pike, Cass, and Schuyler counties," Oshner explained.
Oshner says the application is open now until September 4th.
He say there is also a rent assistance program. The application for that is open until Friday at noon.
He says if you have questions, call their office at 217-221-6236.
