FORT MADISON (WGEM) -- 130 workers are set to be laid off at the Siemens Gamesa factory in Fort Madison, Iowa, according to Lee County Economic Development Group President and CEO, Dennis Fraise.
Fraise said the announcement was made Monday, and the layoffs are due to the factory phasing out their shorter wind turbine blade product.
Over 400 employees will still work at the plant after the layoffs are complete.
Fraise also said the Lee County Economic Development Group will work with the laid-off workers to help them get jobs in Lee County.
According to the company's website, Siemens is a global company with around 385,000 employees in more than 200 regions.
Siemens produces technologies to help with the generation and transmission of power as well as medical diagnosis.
