QUINCY (WGEM) -- Test-positive cases of COVID-19 in Adams County continue to climb in record numbers.
On Friday the Adams County Health Department reported 30 new test-positive cases, the largest single-day report to date.
Since Monday, Adams County has reported 100 new cases which is also the most ever in a five-day period.
Although Adams County kicked off free community wide testing on Thursday, those tests have yet to return and have not contributed to Friday's rise in numbers. Health officials said we will not see those results for another 3 to 6 days.
With students back in school, the community is also seeing the test-positive cases among the younger population on the rise.
14 of the new cases reported on Friday are under 20 years of age, according to the health department.
Quincy Public Schools Superintendent Roy Webb reported on Friday that the COVID-19 numbers within the school district are continuing to trend in the wrong direction. He also reported that the district is tracking a total of 21 active cases within the school system.
The Adams County Health Department reported the following new cases Friday:
2 females between 0 and 9
8 males between 10 and 19
4 females between 10 and 19
5 males in their 20s
2 females in their 30s
1 female in her 40s
1 male in his 50s
2 females in their 50s
2 males in their 60s
2 females in their 60s
1 male in his 80s
Health officials have reported a total of 1077 test-positive cases of COVID-19 in Adams County, with 161 of those being currently active.
Eight Adams County individuals are currently hospitalized and there have been 10 deaths in Adams County, according to the health departmnet.
Health officials report the seven day positivity rate is at 8.79%.
