QUINCY (WGEM) -- The Adams County Health Department issued a warning on Monday for residents to avoid large gatherings after health officials observed outbreaks associated with weddings, sports and other events.
“We know that congregation yields increased case count. The likelihood of individuals being exposed to COVID-19 greatly increases in large groups,” stated Jerrod Welch, Adams County Health Department Public Health Administrator. "Avoiding gatherings with significant number of individuals is vital to reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our community.”
Residents should continue to mask when in public spaces, practice good hand hygiene and stay home when feeling ill.
On Monday, health officials reported 34 new test-positive cases of COVID-19 in Adams County. Setting an new record for the most ever reported in one day.
The new cases reported Monday include:
1 male between 0 and 9
1 female between 0 and 9
2 males between 10 and 19
2 females between 10 and 19
2 males in their 20s
4 females in their 20s
4 males in their 30s
4 females in their 30s
1 male in his 40s
2 females in their 40s
2 males in their 50s
2 females in their 50s
1 male in his 60s
2 females in their 60s
1 male in his 70s
1 female in her 70s
1 male in his 80s
1 female in her 90s
To date, the Adams County Health Department has reported 1146 positive cases with 170 of those active as of Monday morning.
Health officials report that there are 7 Adams County residents currently hospitalized with COVID-19.
Adams County's current seven-day positivity rate is at 8.05%, according to health officials.
