PALMYRA, Mo. (WGEM) -- Palmyra Police Chief Eddie Bogue reported on Friday that a Palmyra man had been arrested on a warrant from the United States District Courts of Eastern Missouri for child pornography.
Bogue said that 69-year-old Stephen Lawrence, had been arrested Thursday after search warrant was conducted at his residence to look for computer files containing child pornography.
Bogue reported Lawrence was taken in to custody with an active arrest warrant from the United States District Courts of Eastern Missouri for receiving child pornography. Lawrence was transported to St. Louis where he will be brought before a judge on the charges.
Bogue added that in April members of the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force started an investigation in to the possession of child pornography. Through the course of the investigation, Detectives were able to identify Lawrence.
Bogue stated Detectives conducted an interview at the residence where they were granted consent to review some electronic devices used by Lawrence in June.
A subsequent forensic examination of these devices located numerous files of child pornography as well as several other devices which have been connected to these computers which contained file names commonly used for child pornography, Bogue stated
Bogue reported that members of the Palmyra Police Department, Marion County Sheriffs Department, FBI and Missouri ICAC Task Force assisted in the arrest and search warrant.
