The weather in Peoria may not have been the best, but Alex McCulla and the Raiders of Quincy Notre Dame, and the Bombers of Macomb High, made the best from what "Mother Nature" provided. In The team standings, MHS took first place honors while the "Blue and Gold" finished second during Class 2A Sectional action. Also playing well on the fairways in Peoria, was the multi-talented McCulla. Alex finished the day with a 73, but he stood by after his round and watched Bloomington's TJ Barger finish strong to card a 73 as well. The two players entered into a 1 hole playoff on 18 after regulation play came to a close. During the dramatic playoff, McCulla carded a par that Barger couldn't match and the 2020 Sectional crown belonged to the proud QND senior.
In nearby Pekin, Illinois, the Quincy High Blue Devils finished in 6th place at the Class 3A Regional. QHS will lead by a freshman in the scoring department after 18 holes of play. We'll have details.
