KEOKUK (WGEM) --- The Keokuk Police Department reported Tuesday that they arrested a Donnellson, Iowa, man and recovered a black Dodge Caliber that was reported stolen by its owner.

An officer reported that he saw the stolen vehicle shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday and attempted to pull it over in the 2000 block of South 7th Street.

Police reported that the driver of the vehicle, Seth Wright, refused to pull over and led officers into Missouri driving over 100 miles per hour.

Police stated that the pursuit eventually returned to Iowa where Wright shut off the vehicles headlights and drove left of the center lane.

Police added Wright finally stopped the vehicle in a pasture in the 2300 block of Carbide in Lee County, where he tried to escape on foot.

They said they're glad no one was injured, especially with the level of danger involved in the chase.

"At one point in time while in Missouri, this vehicle was traveling on Highway 61 in the southbound lane heading north," Keokuk assistant police chief Brian DePriest said. "When he got back into Iowa he shut his headlights off."

According to police, Wright was taken into custody by Keokuk Police officers and deputies from the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Wright was charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Eluding Law Enforcement.
