It was a very interesting Monday in the "Show Me State" with two Tri-State area prep football standouts announcing on Twitter that they've made a decision regarding where they plan to continue their academic and athletic careers in the collegiate ranks next fall.
Palmyra Panthers quarterback Brody Lehenbauer has set his sights on heading to Missouri S&T after guiding the "Orange & Black" to within one victory of the MSHSAA Class 2 State Championship game this past season.
The Clarence Cannon Conference Offensive Player of The Year finished the 2020 season with 22 touchdown passes and just 5 interceptions during Palmyra's sensational (12-1) campaign. Lehenbauer tallied 1,759 yards passing and had 83 completions on the year.
The National Honor Society member also rushed for 8 touchdowns and 323 yards last season. Brody currently sports at 4.1 GPA and hopes to major in Engineering or Mathematics while playing on the next level with the Miners in the NCAA Division II ranks. The Great Lakes Valley Conference school is located in Rolla, Missouri.
Meanwhile, South Shelby wide receiver David Fenton II plans to head to Fulton, Missouri to continue his academic and athletic career with the Blue Jays of Westminster College. Fenton was a 2nd Team Northwest Media All-District selection last season along with Cardinals teammate (OL) Wyatt Jackson.
Congrats goes out to both young men and WGEM Sports wishes the talented duo all the very best playing football and representing their families on the next level!
