WGEM Sports At Six: Monday (Feb 22) QHS Blue Devils Continue To Work On Improving After Posting First Win Of The Season Over The Weekend In The Gem City And Western Illinois University’s Women’s Basketball Team Will Not Be In Action On The Hardwood This Weekend

After beating Sterling 67-35 on the prep hardwood Saturday evening at Blue Devil Gym to secure their first win of the 2021 season, it was back to work for the Quincy High basketball team on Monday. After a day off on Sunday, the (1-5) squad was focusing on preparing on Tuesday's road game against United Township. There were certainly more than a few smiles at QHS after the team posted their first Western Big 6 Conference victory of the year as well. The WGEM Sports Cam caught up with Blue Devils head coach Andy Douglas during workouts and he offered his thoughts on just where his team is mentally right now before their battle against the Panthers.

The Quincy High girls basketball team returns to action tonight, on the road against the Maroons of Moline. We'll have an update on the "Starting 5" that Quincy will have on the floor against MHS in another crucial Western Big 6 Conference match-up for head coach Brad Dance and his squad. We'll have an update.

District play also gets underway on the high school hardwood this evening in "The Show Me State" with several key match-up's on the schedule. We'll take a quick look at the teams that will be in action. We'll also have details on a big local girls basketball match-up set for Camp Point, Illinois.

On the Summit League college hardwood, the final regular-season series for the Western Illinois women's basketball team at Oral Roberts has been canceled. The move will close out the regular season for the Leathernecks. We'll have more details from Macomb.
