Fort Madison voters approve ballot issue paving way for school infrastructure upgrades
FORT MADISON, Ia. (WGEM) -- Voters in Fort Madison overwhelmingly approved a revenue purpose statement on Tuesday in a special election.
The ballot issue is directly tied to funding for infrastructure upgrades to the Fort Madison School District.
With the result official, the district will now be able to access roughly $16.5 million in state money in the form of SAVE funds that come from the state's penny sales tax.
The final vote tally was 822 'Yes' to 140 'No' according to the Lee County Auditors Office.
