FORT MADISON (WGEM) -- Fort Madison YMCA officials said they'll be holding a meeting with Donnellson residents on Thursday to discuss the possibility of bringing a fitness center to the community.

Organizers said the meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Iowa State Extension Office in Donnellson.

They said they want hear from Donnellson community members about what they would want to see in a fitness center.

"I have a plan in mind: new fitness equipment with cardio machines, weights, benches, mirrors and things like that," FM YMCA executive director Ryan Wilson said.

"Maybe they want group fitness, maybe they want all of it."

He said with daycare facilities already in town, they're looking to offer the community something new.

"Essentially we're already out there to some extent," Wilson said. "We're just trying to grow and expand our offerings to that community."

Organizers said masks are required at the meeting if social distancing isn't possible.
