Vaccinations are happening at the Hannibal Regional Medical Center.

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -- All Missourians, aged 16 or older, became eligible to get the COVID vaccine Friday.

The news sparked a busy day at the vaccination clinic in Hannibal where Hannibal Regional Healthcare System CEO Todd Ahrens said he had expected the clinic to administer more than 800 shots

He said Missourians from as far as Columbia and St. Louis had driven to Hannibal in order to get the shot.

Several doctors, from different hospital departments, joined in the vaccination effort like Dr. Julie Viehmann, an OBGYN physician.

She said she was taking part in order to help get as many shots in as many arms as possible as she is eager to help end the pandemic and return to a sense of normalcy.
