QUINCY (WGEM) -- A boat, named after Quincy, is in town to be christened later this week, and you can join in.

The vessel is docked down at the Clat Adams Park on the riverfront.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you to come to its christening this Friday, April 30, at noon.

You can tour the boat after the christening until 4 p.m., in addition to the tours being offered after the ceremony, park rangers will be onsite from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, to answer questions about the vessel and provide public tours.

Closed-toe, flat-surface shoes are required for anyone wishing to tour the vessel and a facial cover is required for those attending the ceremony or participating in tours.

It will join the Mississippi River Structures Maintenance Fleet that maintains navigation system infrastructure on the upper Mississippi River.
