QUINCY (WGEM) -- Quincy police are investigating a stabbing incident that happened Friday night on the north side of the city.
A heavy police presence could be seen by WGEM crews on the scene at 5th and Chestnut, where a person was seen being taken away in an ambulance shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Quincy police officers said they were called to 5th and Chestnut in reference to a fight where a person was stabbed. Upon arrival, officers said they found a person with serious injuries.
An employee at Chestnut Express Market told WGEM that around 9:15 p.m. a man who appeared to have stab wounds came into the store looking for help.
That employee said she immediately called 911.
Quincy police officers said the victim was transported to Blessing Hospital in stable condition.
Quincy police said they will continue to investigate but believe this was not a random incident.
