QUINCY (WGEM) -- If you're dropping off your child at Quincy Junior high School this fall, you might experience less traffic from past school years.
That is because a new parking lot is coming to the Quincy School Board office across the street.
The old parking lot had potholes and was not evenly paved, so crews are working to fix it and expand the amount of parking spaces.
The Building Supervisor believes the new lot will cause less people to park on the street and lead to a better traffic flow.
"In the morning times around here it gets very busy, and we've tried many many different options to help with that. We are confident that this new design of the parking lot is gonna help with this flow of traffic much better," said Ryan Clair.
The parking lot will have enough room for the school's faculty and staff, as well as visitors.
Crews are hoping to finish construction by the start of the school year, but bad weather might push back their deadline.
