QUINCY, Ill (WGEM) -- The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce announced that they have appointed Phil Conover to lead the chamber effective August 2nd. This follows the resignation of Latonya Brock two weeks ago.
Conover has over 50 years of experience in leadership roles and volunteers for various organizations. The board said his experience and involvement would help boost the chamber in the period of transition.
Conover said he was excited to lead the chamber of commerce during the transitional period because he believes now is a positive time for businesses in the community.
"I think this business community is on the threshold of a boom and I think with the right leadership in place, we will be able to help all of our businesses through that," he said.
He mentioned his main goals are to help the staff and set the stage for a successful transition to a new president. He also wants to look at some ways to help the chamber increase in efficiency, and increase collaboration opportunities with other organizations.
The board of directors hopes to find a permanent pick for the presidency within the next one to three months.
