QUINCY (WGEM) -- Thousands of Ameren Illinois electric customers in Quincy lost power Friday morning.
Power went out around 11:30 a.m.
A representative with Ameren said approximately 3,500 customers were without power.
Ameren officials said the outage was caused by an equipment malfunction at a substation.
Officials reported the issue was resolved and power was restored for customers shortly after noon.
