QUINCY, IL (WGEM) -- Working from home has become the new normal for a lot of families during the pandemic.

But sometimes, the kitchen table isn't always the best option for some of that work. It's hard to conduct meetings with a client or have a brain storming session there.

That's why there's a new business called Quincy Worx.

It's located at 3701 East Lake Center in Quincy, across the street from Tangerine Bowl and QHS baseball field.

The new business has more than a dozen fully furnished offices if you need to get a report done, an event room, and several conference rooms to conduct interviews.

Owner Craig Moncey said a lot of big cities like St. Louis and Chicago have this concept, but it was never an option for Quincy.

Local businesses had to either go to a coffee shop or restaurant just to get work done.

"There are a handful of people that love to work from home and they don't get distracted while they are there and then there is a huge group of people that like the comradery, the networking, the conversations around the water cooler which are gone," Moncey said. "So we are hoping to bring that back to the workplace to have a place where they can do that to be productive, engaged and to have networking, etc."

The space is now available to rent and comes with free coffee and Wi-Fi.

Several local businesses have already used it for several purposes.

Prince Minerals and Ellerman Consulting have used the new space and said without an office, this fills the need.

"The opportunity to operate as if it was an office space is pretty beneficial for people like us," Rich Ellerman with Ellerman Consulting said. "We work from home, our clients are not always comfortable coming to the house to meet."

"Because even though we are a small town, our businesses are not small," Brenda Siebers, customer services director for Prince Minerals said. "We need to have that available to all of our businesses and their employees and I do hope it helps the businesses in Quincy. We all want to get bigger."

To reserve the space, email Info@QuincyWorx.com or call 217-919-0029

To rent an office space and conference rooms for one day it is $20 and $75 for the week.

Here's more information about this trend in the workforce:

According to marketing research frim JLL, 66% of employees expect to work in a hybrid model post-pandemic and employees believe companies will need to be bold and proactive in re-imagining their workplaces.

Research firm Owl Labs found remote workers make up 18% of the workforce. Almost two out of every 10 people permanently work from home.
