HANNIBAL (WGEM) -- The Hannibal Fire Department did some training Tuesday that could save your life in an emergency.
Firefighters practiced rope rescue techniques at Lover's Leap. They used a tri-pod pully system that requires everyone on a crew to accomplish a rescue.
Training officer Mark Kempker said this training is vital as they had to use similar techniques to rescue two people who fell off Lover's Leap in 2009.
"They don't see the fence, They decide to get over the fence, take a better picture and because it's limestone, you know, the possibilites of falling down are there and so we've had real-world situations where, within minutes, you're called upon to pull all of your gear off the truck and go to work," Kempker said.
The Hannibal Fire Department will finish training the last crew Wednesday.
