QUINCY (WGEM) -- There was a celebration filled with tears of joy as one soldier made his return to Quincy Tuesday night.
Private 1st Class Jeffery Blacketer said he spent two weeks in Afghanistan serving for the U.S. Army.
While he was there, he took part in quick relief missions helping refugees make their flights out of the country.
He said he felt honored to have the celebration for his return, and that he's excited to be home again.
"It was kind of heart-warming because I know they worried about me while I was over there. Same for with me being over there worrying about their health and safety too, so just getting to see them and hug them because I haven't hugged them in awhile," Blacketer said.
Blacketer said he plans to relax and spend time with family right now.
