QUINCY (WGEM) -- Hundreds of Adams County residents now have their third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine after the county's mass vaccination site opened Tuesday.
The mass vaccination site is set up at The Ambiance on Kochs Lane in Quincy, where health department officials said more than 300 people signed up to get their shot for the first day.
Quincy resident Mary Kay Farwell said she got her first two doses of the vaccine when she first became eligible months ago and had no reaction. So, she decided to get her third dose.
"As a senior citizen, I'm more at-risk than some of the other population. Also, if I can help myself, help the community and keep the spread down, I'm going to do it," Farwell said.
Adams County Health Department spokesperson Emily Andrews said the process is much like the mass vaccination site they had set up at the Oakley-Lindsay Center.
Andrews said you must be eligible by CDC guidelines to get your booster dose and make an appointment before showing up.
"We brought that vaccine clinic to The Ambiance now and the process is very similar. We hope that it is just as efficient to administer these booster doses," Andrews said.
She said when you get here, you must have your insurance card, your appointment ticket and the vaccination card you received from your initial doses.
Health department officials said you can still get your shot if you missed Tuesday's clinic.
They said they'll be set up at The Ambiance Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week and next week from 9 a.m. to noon.
They said you can also get your shot at your doctor's office or pharmacy.
